DIGITAL FILE SETUP GUIDE

In order for us to provide consistent quality results from your digital image files, we need to create some standards by which files are created and organized prior to delivery to our lab. By following these guidelines, your order will not only be completed in a more timely manner, but in many cases at a lesser cost to you.

DIGITAL CAMERA MEDIA

At the Store, we are able to print from Compact Flash, Smart Media, Memory Stick, SD(Secure Digital), MMC, XD, Floppy and CD.

Acceptable file formats are JPEG and TIFF only. Do not write any files back to the card from your computer. We cannot make prints from video clips. Most people find prints made from files with a resolution of 640x480 unacceptable. We recommend a minimum file resolution of 1800x1200 for quality 4x6 prints. See our “Resolution Explained” information on our counter or website.

DOWNLOADED OR CD FILES

Files delivered in the following manner will receive the "DIGITAL PRINT PRICING" if all criteria are met:

- We cannot make prints from video clips.

- Most people find prints made from files with a resolution of 640x480 unacceptable.

- We recommend a minimum file resolution of 1800x1200 for quality 4x6 prints.

See our “Resolution Explained” information on our counter or website.

- Please indicate if your media is MAC format.

- All files must be saved in RGB color and not have any layers, channels, paths or LZW compression.

- File names must have only one period (.) followed by jpg or tif. There cannot be any apostrophes (‘)

  or exclamation points (!).

- Files should be "sized" properly to the print size requested to avoid cropping. When manipulating

files in your software, always change "output image size" to your desired print size and should be

saved as "TIF" to avoid "JPG" compression artifacts. This is most important on large prints.

- For photographic quality results, resolution should be 300 ppi at print size.

  See our “Resolution Explained” page.

- Our time to fix any incorrectly stored files will be billed at $60/hour.

- The "DIGITAL PRINT PRICING" will be used if all criteria are met.

COLOR MANAGEMENT

We use Monoco (Monacosys.com) software / hardware to color balance our monitors and printers which provide you with the most accurate color prints possible. However, be aware that if your monitor is not color balanced to a standard color space, the file seen on our monitors and the resulting prints may not match your monitor. Feel confident that, even though they may not match your monitor, your images are printed to the highest quality standards. Every effort is made to make them look the best they can. If you need a particular color match, PLEASE stop by the store with a guide print.
